Few-shot Learning

Teaching AI a task by showing it just a few examples in your prompt.

In Plain English

Few-shot Learning is when you include a small number of examples in your prompt to show the AI what kind of output you want. Instead of extensive training, you just demonstrate the pattern a few times. This is remarkably effective with large language models. "Zero-shot" means no examples; "one-shot" means one example; "few-shot" typically means 2-5 examples.

💡Real-World Example

To get consistent formatting, you might show the AI: "Input: Apple → Output: Fruit. Input: Hammer → Output: Tool. Input: Piano → Output: ?"
