RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation)
A technique that lets AI access external documents to provide more accurate answers.
In Plain English
RAG combines AI's language abilities with the ability to search through documents. When you ask a question, the system first retrieves relevant information from a database or document collection, then uses that information to generate an answer. This reduces hallucinations and allows AI to work with up-to-date or proprietary information it wasn't trained on.
💡Real-World Example
A company's internal chatbot might use RAG to search their policy documents before answering employee questions about benefits.
