AI-Designed Drugs by a DeepMind Spinoff Are Headed to Human Trials

# AI-Designed Drugs Are About to Be Tested on Humans for the First Time A company created by the team behind DeepMind's AI breakthroughs has designed new medicines using artificial intelligence and is now moving them into human testing—a major milestone that could prove AI can actually discover drugs that work in real patients. Until now, AI has mostly helped speed up early research stages, but this is the first time AI-designed drugs will be tested on people to see if they're safe and effective. If successful, it could dramatically change how pharmaceutical companies discover medicines and get them to patients faster.
Isomorphic Labs president Max Jaderberg said at WIRED Health in London that the startup has built a “broad and exciting pipeline of new medicines.”
