# Google Adds More Links Back to Websites in AI Overviews Google is making changes to its AI-powered search summaries after websites complained that the AI answers were stealing traffic by appearing at the top of search results. The search giant will now include more clickable links within and below AI summaries, pointing you to actual articles, expert opinions, and discussions from around the web so you can dig deeper into topics. This gives websites a better chance of getting clicks back while still letting Google show you a quick AI-generated answer first.

The top of a Google search page is prime real estate, but it has primarily been the domain of AI Overviews for the past two years. Websites that spent years optimizing for Google search haven't exactly loved being pushed down the page by a chatbot and may blame AI Overviews for recent traffic drops.
