DeepMind Says Its AI Can Predict Hurricanes Earlier Than Everyone Else

# DeepMind's AI Predicts Hurricanes Faster Than Current Methods DeepMind has created an AI model that can forecast where hurricanes will go and how strong they'll become earlier than existing weather prediction systems, and it does this using less detailed weather information. The company plans to release this tool publicly so other researchers and forecasters can use it, though scientists still aren't entirely sure why the AI is so effective at spotting these patterns. This could eventually give communities more warning time to prepare for dangerous storms.
Its WeatherNext model, which will be open-sourced, can accurately predict a storm’s track and intensity using lower-resolution weather data. Researchers don’t yet fully understand how it does this.
