Google Makes It Easy to Deepfake Yourself

Google has released new AI tools that make it much easier for anyone to create fake videos of themselves—you can now generate a realistic video of your own face saying or doing things you never actually did, right from your phone. While this could be useful for creating personalized messages or avatars for work, it also raises concerns about the technology being misused to spread misinformation or create convincing fraudulent content. The ease of use means these deepfake videos could become widespread before most people understand how to spot them.
Google’s overhaul of its AI creation software, Flow, includes a new video model and a tool for generating selfie videos called avatars.
