# Google Sues Chinese Crime Ring for Using AI to Automate Scams Google is suing a Chinese cybercrime group that has been using Google's own AI tool (Gemini) to automatically create convincing fake websites and mass-send phishing text messages to trick people into giving up their passwords and personal information. The criminal operation, called Outsider Enterprise, operated like a scam-building service on Telegram where less technical criminals could buy templates and instructions to launch their own fraud schemes. The group managed to send over 2.5 million fraudulent texts to Android users before Google, law enforcement, and mobile carriers worked together to shut it down.
