Google takes a page out of Meta’s book, announces new audio-powered smart glasses

Google has announced new smart glasses that work primarily through voice commands—you speak to them and they respond using Google's AI assistant Gemini to help you get things done. Think of them as hands-free access to Google's services and apps, similar to what Meta has been doing with their own smart glasses. The main idea is that instead of pulling out your phone, you can just talk to your glasses to get information, make requests, or complete tasks.
Google is calling the new devices "audio glasses," in that users will be able to issue verbal commands to them and get things done via its ecosystem of apps and services, including Gemini.
