# AI Is Now Designing New Materials in a Robot Lab—And It's Much Faster Than Scientists Working Alone A startup called Radical AI built a lab in Manhattan where robots automatically mix, test, and analyze new materials based on designs created by artificial intelligence, cutting what normally takes 20+ years of trial-and-error down to a much faster process. Instead of a team of scientists spending months perfecting one material, one scientist can now oversee AI working on ten different materials simultaneously. This could speed up development of everything from stronger jet engines to materials needed for fusion energy.
