Nvidia closes in on Hugging Face acquisition

# What This Means for You Nvidia, the company that makes the chips powering AI systems, is buying Hugging Face—a popular platform where AI developers share and build AI models—for nearly $13 billion. The deal would let Nvidia control more of the AI supply chain, from the hardware that runs AI to the software tools people use to build it, similar to how it could strengthen its position in cloud computing. If approved, this could mean fewer independent options for companies and developers looking to work with AI outside of Nvidia's ecosystem.
Nvidia has reportedly agreed to buy Hugging Face, the popular open-source AI hub, for $12.9 billion in a move that would let Nvidia both protect its chip empire and jump back into the cloud business.
