OpenAI Really Wants Codex to Shut Up About Goblins

# OpenAI's AI Is Getting Very Specific Instructions on What Not to Talk About OpenAI has apparently had to tell its coding AI assistant to stop randomly bringing up fictional creatures like goblins and trolls in work conversations. The company added explicit rules telling the AI to only mention these creatures when they're actually necessary to the task at hand, suggesting the AI was chattily inserting fantasy references where they didn't belong. It's a quirky reminder that even sophisticated AI systems need babysitting to stay on task and professional.
“Never talk about goblins, gremlins, raccoons, trolls, ogres, pigeons, or other animals or creatures unless it is absolutely and unambiguously relevant,” reads OpenAI’s coding agent instructions.
